A big thank you goes to Chris Jones MD and Steve the Tutor for a fun filled night, despite it being wet and windy. Michelle "Dingle" was disappointed however she did not get to wrestle any bears!!. Mambo the Mammoth
Hi All,
Some of you may have seen in the Target last week that a Boston family are currently raising money for Macmillan by building a giant mammoth. Paul Grant produces wheat for Weetabix on land at RG Farms, Boston, and every year they run a bale art competition (details on http://www.weetabix.co.uk/wheatart/ ) Paul and his brother in law, David Sharpe (also a farmer but an artist in his spare time) designed and built a straw mammoth for the competition.
When they had almost finished the bale sculpture, and had been amazed by the media and public attention, someone decided to burn the mammoth down. Although they were somewhat disheartened by this mean action, and indeed locals told them they were outraged, they decided to build another, even better version. Because of the huge public excitement and support, especially with the children, they decided to rebuild the mammoth plus a female mammoth with her baby.
Following a huge number of visits to the mammoths, they started a collection which raised over £850 for the Boston Pilgrim Children's Ward
This year, following their previous success they are going to do it all again. However, this time Nikki Grant's Mum has written a book and they are rasining money for Macmillan Cancer Support. As part of the launch of this and the mammoths they are having an open day on the weekend of the 11th and 12th September, and have asked me to publicise it on our Blog.
If anyone wants any further details please don't hesitate to contact me or alternatively pop along to the day itself, it certainly sounds fun

Great North Run
Hi All,
I don't like to ask for favours but I am running the Great North Run in September and I would like to raise as much money as possible for "When you Wish Upon a Star". This is a great charity who do an awful lot of good for children in our area who have life threatening or terminal illnesses. I chose to charity as I have a student "Frankie" who has recently undergone a kidney transplant. Frankie and her family have accessed the services of the charity and I know from talking to her Mum that their help has made life that bit easier.
I do Hope that you can support me
Please click on my Just Giving pop up on the side of the blog page to donate!

Rachael Gives Blood
Well I finally gave blood to day, I was terrified, but I have to say once the needle was it it was a doddle! I have even booked to go again in December. The staff were quite lovely and they took a picture of me to prove I really did do it. They were all quite interested in my year of challenges, and laughed alot when they heard about the ballgown breakfast. I felt very proud of myself, until the Lady next to me while we were having our tea and buscuits said it was her 44th donation, then I thought prehaps my little donation wasn't all that impressive, it's going to be a long time before I get to no 44!
